Atheism – Are people blind?
For me atheism is logical and probably the only rational thing in this world. It is not a belief but rather an acceptance that there is no deity that rules supreme (also in plural form).
It sounds very ignorant when especially creationists (people that believe that God litteraly created the Earth roughly 6000 – 7000 years ago) just ignore scientific facts and instead write articles to adress people’s emoitions instead of reason. Asking questions such as, “Do you really believe that we are decendent from apes?” that is a not a rational question but an emotional.
Then there are those that say that evolution and likewise were the instruments that God was working through. Gerald Schröder with his “The Science of God” made a long formal that used Einstein’s theory that time is relative to “prove” that 6 days in God’s time is 15 billion years (the age of the universe). But we still got that problem that God created plants before light.
And you won’t convience me that plants lived millions of years before light came to be. That is just silly.
Photosynthesis is not rocket science it is taught at high school, about how plants through CO2, H2O and E (light, energy) creates glukose, and O2.
Are people afraid that if they cast away religion that we’ll all sink into a pit filled with immorality and anarchy?
I’ve read from Christian fundamentalists that if there wasn’t a God what would stop them from killing a person then? That is a scary statement. Common sense and the benefits of society should stop people from comitting genocide.
It’s not like that religious people haven’t killed someone.
So all you people out there, cast away the clouds of ignorance and start thinking.
Dear Baby brother (and a baby you are – in this case anyway)
As a former student of religius historiy on the university of southern denmark – and as your older sidster – I have to go *LOL* … Belives and faith isn’t that simple.
Many christian people for exampel, dos not se the bible as something that should be taking literaly – but as a guideline how to live your life.
It isn’t black or white – it has many colours – and, the bible isn’t the only text on creation – there is many – som makes more sence than other.
And! Feeling the need to laugh at people who needs to belive in some form of higher power – isn’t verry pretty – or sympathic – we should all respect each other – and peoples belives, even if they are far fetcht.
You would by the way – make a god doctor, just like our father
Love
Your Older – and a lot wiser – Sister
Dear Christian, the world isn’t divided into atheists and religious extremists…
On the other hand, I don’t necessarily see the problem with a god behind it all, because science doesn’t have to defy religion. You could view science as exploring God’s creation, instead of proving there’s no supernatural powers.
For the record, I don’t count myself as religious, mostly because I don’t know of any religion that fits with my views. I mean, I’m open to the idea of a God, but I don’t believe in Jesus as a god, for instance. And all the Hindu gods doesn’t make sense to me either. I could also live with the fact that there isn’t any god either, but I guess it would be nicer if there was, because then some things just make more sense, if you know what I mean? Even though it opens up for just as many new questions as it answers.
For example:
- Where do we come from? We were created by some supernatural power, maybe God.
- Allright, but where does God come from?
Ok, long comment. It’s hard to make short comments. I guess my point is that the world isn’t just black and white, and you need to see that. Being religious doesn’t mean being stupid or a fundamentalist. It’s just a few people who ruins it for the sensible rest….
Young Earth Creationists are those that believe that the Earth is 5 – 6k years old.
Some back up the Gerald Schröder theory that God’s days are very long.
